Glad you liked it! And high five, 100%. I mean, the implication is that Madoka reaches some kind of omnipotent higher-reality state where time itself no longer has meaning, but “you give everyone ~hope~ but also spend a timeless eternity taking in their suffering” sure is an Idea.
I haven’t looked into much about the anime’s production yet, but D: geez, they could’ve made the finale in mspaint at that point and I could get it. It’s interesting to know they always intended to make a follow-up movie, though; where’d you find that? (Read Wikipedia a bit, but it lumps Rebellion in with the recap movies and says basically nothing about the film’s production in particular; haven’t looked anywhere else for creator commentary yet.)
But yeah, I’m gonna make another post for movie commentary but TL;DR: loved it. It makes perfect sense for Homura’s character as I understand it! Were people missing the possessive undertones or something?
Only point I’ll differ on is that I really wanna see where they go next, but that’s probably because I’ve been spoiled by binging the entire series with no multi-year gaps XD Everything seems so galaxy brain (complimentary) interconnected; I’m too dang excited for a follow-up that doesn’t even have a release date yet!!! But I’m sure the fandom’s had a ton of fun with what we have in the mean time; got any recs?
