Send me a 🔥 for an unpopular opinion.
Bonus points if you include a topic. (IE. shipping, roleplaying, ect.)
It’s slow over here in large part because I still only log in once in a blue moon and never interact with people ever, but what the heck! Throw some Spicy Onion prompts at me. You are welcome and in fact encouraged to send multiple prompts per comment, anon or not.
...man, I don’t miss tumblr whatsoever, but the lack of ask memes do leave an Interaction with Strangers on the Internet void in my life :pensive:

Date: 2019-04-21 12:21 pm (UTC)Still, I'm not here to be the fun police. So, in the hopes I am doing this correctly:
🔥 Passion projects, as opposed to professional ones
🔥 Interviews, seeing as I recently suffered being interviewed
🔥 Coding, seeing as that is something you're quite fond of, yet haven't talked about as much
Alright, that's all that comes to mind at the moment. I am going to take this opportunity to say I'm glad to see you're doing alright, my guy! I've been besides myself with worry for quite some time now, for I didn't know you had an Internet Place after leaving Tumblr which you updated regularly, and thought something may have happened to you since last we spoke.
Thank you for your continued existence, Svjetlo. It is the greatest present I could have!

Date: 2019-05-05 07:13 pm (UTC)…Anyhow, extremely late reply, as I do:
Firstly, yes, the emoji can seem somewhat pointless. I think it makes the request seem easier on behalf of the asker? If you don’t have a topic in mind, you can still interact via simple copy-paste.
As for the actual opinions:
What are the popular opinions on passion projects? Aside from the obligatory rant about “society at large” deeming them a waste of time/effort for lack of immediate profit, I guess. Er, here’s a thought: passion projects are great and I support them, and I wholeheartedly encourage people to dive into a project that seems way over their head! Whether they finish it or not, it’s worth it for the experience!
But also, people are not remotely kidding when they recommend starting small, whether it be with a short comic or story or game or anything. Maybe it’s just me, but there’s a certain lingering dissatisfaction to leaving one’s first Big ProjectTM incomplete.... :T
Confession: I have not had a single interview thus far in my life! I am horrifically intimidated by the prospect of thereof! But if they really are asking esoteric questions with fifty layers of hidden meaning... honestly, what the fuck.
And oh, coding. My latest love. This is a somewhat unpopular opinion among my current class, but I don’t think PHP is that difficult! …at least not to implement, with a working functions.php file that someone else already wrote. It reminds me of the blocks used to build a tumblr theme, which to be fair I have some experience with.
Thank you for the prompts, my friend :>

Date: 2019-05-05 08:07 pm (UTC)Spicy! Yes.1) The word “anti” in the context of The DiscourseTM means about as much to me as “SJW” at this point—which is to say, barely anything. It’s more useful to take a stand against specific behaviors (i.e. harassment and suicide baiting) and/or beliefs (such as “fiction affects reality [implied: and I assume you think it doesn’t” or “because people can be groomed when xyz is portrayed as zyx, it should be harder to access if not banned outright to prevent abuse”) than making some broad claim about Those Evil Little Antis. (Especially relevant in the face of “it’s called being normal/having morals” sentiments.)
2) CinemaSins is not that bad. It is, as far as I’m aware (just having watched scattered videos here and there), an entertainment channel dedicated to being as amusingly anal as possible, and never claimed every last one of their nitpicks is legitimate criticism. The same goes for TVTropes being, at least in theory*, a neutral reference of recurring fictional devices, and not a judgment of quality. Sure, both are made by People and People Have Opinions and subjectivity and yadda yadda yadda but my point is you guys gotta read actual professional movie reviews to get mad about instead.
*I’ve definitely seen a few tropes off the YMMV pages that… maybe should’ve been YMMV entries, but such is the joy/plague of alternate character interpretation.
3) Mint and chocolate is a good combination. Mint chocolate chip ice cream? Excellent. Fight me.
That was a fun challenge, thank you! c:
