Infinity Train thoughts, round two!
I really wanted to like this episode more than I did :T
I AM AWARE this is a short series with a mere ten 11-minute episodes, and very much ongoing, so I’ll try not to nitpick much.
Still, though, I didn’t buy the friend bond between Tulip and One-One, even though I get the intro was trying to establish one. I don’t trust One-One far as I cold throw him/them, really, and that made the whole episode fall flat.
Someday I can also definitely use that line at the end, the whole “but that doesn’t make what you did okay” thing, as a launch point to rant about The Narrative Condoning Bad Actions and similar trains (har har) of thought. But uh, I’ll just file that away for later, because it’s getting way besides the point.
Things I liked, though:
- more character development for Tulip, especially in her little rant to Randall/Rando/water dude
- everything! about! that! cat!! Voice, design, super cool getaway ball—I don’t trust them either, mind, but I don’t think this is the last we’ve seen of them and I look forward to the return. (Also: Atticus, dog. Unnamed white cat, cat. Ya know.)
- The train cars have been pretty creative, for what precious little we see of them. I wanna know what was up with that giant crossword!!
- Something is up with that countdown. It’s not linear and doesn’t seem to be based on either the train cars or time passed; it even flickered a bit in the scene where Tulip was fixing the cat’s machine-thingo.
Overall, while I wasn’t so impressed with the story progression as a mini-arc, I’m still very intrigued by where this is going. Here’s to the rest of the week! (I still can’t believe it’ll only be five days long!!!)
