Ah, what the heck. For a while there I was like “no parasocial relationships allowed” but if there’s anywhere I’m gonna Put Myself Out There (besides my own site and dA), it’s gonna be here. I make no promises about Update Schedules or anything, but I do wanna “liveblog” something soon, and it’d feel weird putting something like that on my less-ephemeral Official Website so. Hello.

But first, some (re)introductions—in the form of reviewing my own blog, because why not. (Why did I upload a Jyushi icon and then never use it, despite posting about Osomatsu-san multiple times?? God, I haven’t revisited that show in ages, but I love his doofy-ass face so it gets to christen this post.)

  • Overall blog impression: plain, gets the job done, could definitely make the links stand out more (not colorblind-friendly at the moment). Line height’s a little tight. The Noto font family was a good choice on tumblr, where its “we’ve designed something for as many characters as humanly possible” schtick would be more relevant. I’m still a sucker for Alegreya, so that’s an option, and my site currently uses Lato because I use it in my writing docs so it has this nice informal feel to it in my head.
    • Line length could also use tightening, bluh. And/or just increase the font size.
  • Gratuitous Posting About Myself: Yeah, this is still basically accurate. At some point I straight-up deleted the fandom blog page so F to that.
  • Locke & Key review: Not reading this right now but the funny thing is that I own all six books of this, plus a couple standalones, and you know how many times I’ve revisited it? Zero. I remember really liking it but then the ending was a letdown, and I haven’t been particularly motivated to give it a reread. Ah well.
  • Public Author, Do Not Kill: Oh, this I gotta revisit. I reread it recently just for the heck of it so I don’t feel like doing an entire point-by-point commentary (and if I did, it’d warrant its own post), but suffice it to say my opinions have Changed slightly. Two big things factoring into said change are 1) I did the ArtFight thing this year, which put me in direct and irrefutable contact with this “OC culture” and honestly it was heckin fun as shit and I am trying to be less pretentious, and 2) the fact I’ve been posting gratuitous scribbles of my own newer characters means I’ve kinda lost the right to be that pretentious in the first place. So like, while I still have some of the same hesitations, OC people are the Spongebob Übermensch to my Squidward (I fucking love Contrapoints) and shit try I boy.
  • January 2019: This is just a little life update sooo I don’t have much to say really. But aww, I forgot my website looked like that at one point. It’s like a forbidden ultrasound (whereas glitch.me preserves its first design, more or less, and I revamped it again… last month-ish? month before? Recently) and I don’t know why I said ultrasound and not “beta version” or something more conventional but whatever it can stay.
    • aaand the character playlist page link broke, not surprised there. c’est la vie
    • Oh, and if we’re talking about albums that tell a story, I really liked April Fools by The Scary Jokes and meant to write a review on it at some point. Obviously that’s not a thing I ever got around to doing but It Cool.
    • Teased fullbody lineup I mentioned has since been publicized, as has the rest of the project. The author is dead as a doornail though so go dig that up for yourself if you wish ;V
    • It’s kinda neat to have a “timestamp” for when I started seriously thinking about art style in character design (and its general effects on tone), because that’s something I’m really doubling down on with the current creative brainworms. More on that later/whenever, though.
    • oh my god I forgot this post was so long
    • RGU is the aforementioned thing I’m actually sweeping dust off this place to liveblog, so call that a foreshadowing
    • Wait, I did reread Locke and Key? Really?? Either I was talking out my ass or I was defining “reread” very loosely as in skimming some bits over again because I genuinely have no memory of that. r/IAmAReliableNarrator
    • “slowly crawling out of the mindset that doing anything that isn’t school is a waste of time” -puts shoulder on son- Hand,
  • whatever this is: “life’s too short to be a shipper in denial” lmao so y’all wanna hear about how the current creative brainworms are basically Disaster Relationships: The Show
  • Vision thoughts: I think the only reason I remember this comic is because I wrote all this about it. Still not a big superhero person but I discovered this recently and want to finish reading it soon so there is that.
  • yeah this is not a thing that’s happened (yet)
  • miscellaneous April stuff: Y’know, I do miss these little monthly link roundups. Lately I’ve been doing monthly art roundups, which very frequently include excessive rambling and linkage in the descriptions, but there’s still stuff that gets left out if I didn’t draw or otherwise visually refer to it. Anyway, if you like Jack Stauber, can I also interest you in—actually here I made a playlist.
    • >tfw using raw HTML for this entry because the markdown bullets were giving me Problems
    • oh so I did post those Captain Marvel thoughts! that note’s been sitting in the dredges of my iPad for forever, I can finally release it into the void of deletion
  • can’t be assed to go through the comments here or here primarily because the comment styling is bad and wonky >:V
  • thanks past me for getting the “im gay…” post stuck in my head again. I should redraw that with my own characters tbh
  • May 2019: “Point is I’m trying to stop hoarding things ‘for later’ that I know I’ll probably never get to. Spoiler alert: they’re not missed!” ← this was a nice thought except I am currently maintaining a text doc that consists about 10% of things I actually use and refer to a lot and the other 90% is Things To Go Through Later. F
  • don’t really have much to say on the art posts except They Sure Are There. I actually revisited the character-palette-based-on-dragon-scry thing recently but you literally would not notice because I never finished it and so it got relegated to some tiny-ass thumbnails in the midst of a giant dump. Maybe I will post (or actually y’know like Finish) the WIP someday.
  • I am not rereading the Infinity Train posts because that show has also left me with Disappointing Ending Letdown Bias. Since writing those I watched the second season but it was still broadly Meh, tighter than the first iirc but left a Lot to be desired.
  • And finally there’s this, which I also have little to say about except It Exists. I’ve since dumped a bunch of my other standalone code experiments on ze website so check those out if you wanna.

Ok cool that’s everything I’m done. That took longer than expected. Hello, nice to (re?)meet you, I am still a nerd, I am almost done with college now, I told my therapist yesterday that adulthood is coming at me like a freight train and I am standing on the tracks and nodding like “hm that sure is advancing very fast, I should do something about it” and then continuing to stand there, yadda yadda yadda life. Sayonara until next post~!
