a_flyleaf: (zeroblep)
[personal profile] a_flyleaf

Hello, I was getting tired of the 2021 infopost being stickied, so here is a ✨shiny new one✨. It repeats a lot of the same stuff but is shorter, has better headers, and is of course not 2 years old.
 [2025 note: Now this post is two years old! Still relevant, though.]

Also like last version, feel free to use this as a catch-all intro/welcome/inbox post! Random comments out of nowhere are A+ very welcome. They need not be relevant to the rest of this post at all.

define: a-flyleaf

(technically): the person who maintains about three corners of the internet using this handle; alias + a blank page at the beginning or end of a book;

(historically): an adult, inexplicably; old enough to have grown up before kids had smartphones, young enough to have minimal memory of the early aughts;

(linguistically): chronic rambler and bullet-point overuser; typically defaults to Proper™ spelling and grammar but stylistically diverges with reckless abandon; učenik hrvatskog who peppers vocabulary with it sometimes;

(occupationally): hobbyist digital artist & storymaker; graphic design graduate; casual HTML+CSS wrangler; part-time library page; lifelong hermit slowly trying to crawl out of the social shell;

(fannishly): longtime lurker; roleplay forum nostalgia-peddler; character hyperfixater; more likely to scrawl up 5-second wildly out-of-character doodles than write meta But Can Do Both They Swear; former righteous fandom loudmouth; shipcourse-dodger whose stance is now “literally who cares, don’t harass people and make whatever you want”; current and perpetual proponent of “holy shit two cakes” and stomping around the sandbox of canon with reckless abandon;

(in sum): someone who thought this was a clever/unique format, and also finds introductions to be A Struggle

journal notes

Loosely based off trascendenza’s template, TL;DR’d from last round:

  • on subscribing: I subscribe to people who post stuff that catches my interest, and assume the same of those subscribed to me. No introductions necessary, no social obligations invoked in general, s’all chill here~
  • on access: An enigma to me, tbh. I don’t use or expect it!
  • on comments: Everything’s fair game. Old post, new post; short comment, long comment; reply in 0.2 seconds or from 5 years ago; idc, have fun~
    • heads up/disclaimer, I don’t always have the brainpower to engage with long comment threads, but I appreciate them anyway! In a similar vein, zero obligation on your part to match the length of anything I write.
  • on linking and/or quoting me: Also A-OK! Would love to know if you do this, so I can stalk whatever comments ensue and possibly boost the conversation over here too.

on transformative work

  • Blanket assumption is yes: you can use my art and/or writing for edits, springboards for your own creations, whatever—with the caveat that you credit me (by link and/or name, whatever suits your purposes best). I am a stickler for sourcing. I won’t chase you down if you don’t but I’m gonna be mad about it >:(
  • Would also strongly appreciate if you didn’t make money off the derivative thing (like, turning my art into a mug that you sell on WeStealArtDotCom). I’m pretty sure that’s breaching copyright law anyway.
  • Bonus: show me! what! you! make!!!!! if you want. I Would Like To See It
  • Also, I am negative amounts of fussed about AI stuff. I am not a professional, it is never going to match the scribble/word gremlins in my head, and honestly I think an AI trained on my work would be very funny. So if you do feed something I do to a glorified autocompletion tool, the note above absolutely applies.

Essentially: I am very lenient. Go nuts.

  • subscription = casual indication of interest; access locking is irrelevant to me atm
  • “can I link to and/or comment on XYZ, even in ABC way?” yes, without caveat
  • “can I use something you did somehow?” also yes, just credit pls and thank

A’ight, that’s all, yer free :> Thanks for stopping by~!
